How good is D-Link's Bluetooth Adapter? Fuhgeddabowdit!

For some products, the highest level of praise you can bestow on them is that you forget they're even there.
That's certainly the case for D-Link's Bluetooth Adapter. Last November, the kind folks at D-Link sent us their DBT-120 to use in the seminar I was preparing for Macworld San Francisco. My favorite part of the experience was reading the installation guide; the Windows section ran around four pages or so, and involved Hardware Configuration Wizards, installing drivers, and -- as I recall -- lots of rebooting. The Mac section on the other hand went something like this: Plug it in. Use it. I love it when that happens.
My Mac recognized the D-Link immediately (even though my Mac began life as a beige G3 and isn't exactly what you'd call a common configuration) and gave me a new Bluetooth section in my System Preferences utility. A couple of clicks paired my Mac with my Sony Ericsson T68i phone, and I've never really had to think about the adapter again.
Through iSync, downloading pictures and themes via Sony Ericsson Client and now, controlling my Mac with my phone thanks to Sony Ericsson Clicker, the D-Link has never given me a moment's pause. Like my Mac, The D-Link just works.
Sometimes the best part about high technology isn't using it. It's being able to ignore it.
The D-Link DBT-120 is available from the D-Link website for $49.00.
