Avie Tevanian to leave Apple

Avadis "Avie" Tevanian, Apple's Chief Technology Officer and the influential software guru who came to Apple from NeXT along with Steve Jobs, will leave the company "to pursue other interests," according to an article in SF Gate. The Gate reports Apple has confirmed Tevanian's last day will be March 31st, but would not says what his plans were other than he "plans to take some time off in the interim."
Tevanian was instrumental in the development of Mac OS X, including working on the Mach kernal, used in the operating system, during his days at Carnegie Mellon University.
